EEF Photography Competition

Designed to inspire a new image and improved public perception of UK manufacturing and engineering, the Engineering Employers’ Federation (EEF) host an annual photography competition to celebrate this genre. From the traditional to the high-tech the images sought were to reflect the strength and diversity of today's UK manufacturing sector.

After entering some of the images from my shoot at PCE Automation, I was delighted to be nominated in two categories of this years competition: the ‘Next Generation’ category which highlights and promotes young people in manufacturing, and the ‘Manufacturing Process’ category which focuses on the journey from design to production.

I was thrilled with the news that both of my submissions had made the shortlist from over 700 entries and accepted the invitation to attend an awards ceremony in London.

Fast forward a few weeks, I found myself in Westminster on a cold damp evening.  After meeting a friend at a client’s restaurant, we headed to the awards. It was great to see all of the shortlisted images on display in the Main Hall and hear the stories behind the them. During the ceremony, the winning images from each category were announced by various senior figures from the UK Manufacturing Sector. Each winning image was presented with a full description, story and reason behind the judges choice. Whilst I did not win an award on the evening, I was very pleased to have made the shortlist and attend the awards as it was a fantastic experience to have been part of.
